For over 41 years, Kimpton has never wavered in our support for the LGBTQ+ community – and we never will. We believe love is love, and that love always wins. We believe in equality for all. And most of all, we believe all love should be celebrated!
Join us for a summer of Pride, with music, cocktails, art and more at Kimpton Clocktower and The Refuge.
‘Together As One: A Celebration of Manchester’s LGBTQ+ Community’ Photography Exhibition
Held in partnership with British Culture Archive, a new, free exhibition of photographs by Jon Shard and Peter J Walsh will go on display in the hotel featuring two iconic moments within Manchester’s vibrant history.
Jon Shard cut his teeth at club night Flesh on The Haçienda’s hallowed dancefloor, capturing the club night in all its carnivalesque glory. The resulting positive shift of attitudes, set the path for the rise of ‘Gaychester’ and the city’s thriving LGBTQ+ scene today.
Legendary photographer Peter J Walsh documented the protest against Margaret Thatcher’s Clause 28 of the Local Government Act and march through Manchester City centre on 20th February 1988 – one of the largest LGBTQ+ demonstrations ever held in the UK.
Photography Exhibition: Kimpton Clocktower, from Thursday 28 of July. Free to attend.
